Rescues Run on Volunteer Power
We are always in need of helping hands and creative minds, and not all volunteer work is hands on for the horses. We do ask for a commitment of at least two hour slots, but we welcome weekday, week night, weekend, weekly, monthly, or summer only volunteering.
Our "Young Defenders Program" is my personal favorite.
Please contact us to learn more about available options & time slots. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you have the time and interest, please contact us with details on what you would like to do. We also plan to host Community Events & Clinics for corporations, children’s groups, schools, and, of course, our own Defenders. Please contact us if you would like to schedule one thru GH. Thank you very much!

At Guardian Hearts we are blessed to have several amazing volunteers. These pictures are of PC Cowboy & the volunteer assigned to him, Claire. ...She is a HS student, rides & shows her own horses, a true horsewoman with that timeless and, and we are so very blessed to have her on board at GH. Cowboy is one of our OTTB rescues, a 16.2hh, 6 year old, gelding. He was a kp rescue from a NC kp back in July 2019, he is a gorgeous big boy, sweet and has great potential for flatwork or trail, but we are always shorthanded so he has had more downtime (especially with Covid) than we would have preferred. When Claire volunteered we assigned her Cowboy as her first project (along with all the NOT so glamorous, but so very necessary jobs like mucking stalls, picking poop from paddocks, flyspraying horses who act like you are trying to douse them in cheap perfume, scrubbing & filling water troughs, etc. ...She dove in from day one, no job has been too dirty, she has never once complained that it's been too hot, she works independently, asks wonderful questions, is self-motivated, observant, and beyond trustworthy. She is exactly the type of volunteer the Chairman of any rescue dreams of. She is also quick thinking & proactive, and has more than once caught & acted on a problem with a horse that could have otherwise ended up disastrous. She is personable, knowledgeable, and doing great assisting with our meet & greets. She is the perfect representative for Guardian Hearts ... and I am so proud & honored she chose GHED to volunteer for. ...Her work with Cowboy (and others) is not only making their daily lives better, but also helping them get homes & families. I cant wait to see what she will do with her next assignment (Check back to see, It's a surprise!). We have no resource more crucial than our volunteers. And we are so very blessed to have Claire!!
