Katies Cuddles 2002 Dark Brown OTTB Mare, 15.3+hh, Advanced Beginner. Katie only raced 2 races, adopted out as a broodmare, she served in WVA as momma to a number of good looking appaloosa sporthorses. Seized in a 41 horse abuse/neglect/cruelty case, she and several other OTTB mares found their way into another rescue and for several years her history is lost, we think she was owned & ridden privately as a hunter jumper type in an arena, and once again used as a broodmare. We found her in a killpen in PA, in her last 24 hours with no one to step up for her, so we did and no regrets. Katie is resilient, beautiful, built solid, and sound with lovely hooves (currently barefoot). She has that classic thoroughbred mentality, she is sweet, kind, but has fire and knows she is a Queen. She has HUGE personality, with kindness of heart. Katie loves to be in the barn in the middle of things, she adores Queen Anne's Cherries, She is upper middle of the herd but not dominant except to maintain her order for feeding time. No Bite, buck, rear, bolt, she ties and cross ties, loads & trailers well. She will stand to be groomed & bathed, flysprayed, easy to catch, is good for the farrier and vet, lunges, and was ridden bareback in a snaffle. Katie has one flaw, and that is she is very sensitive about her back legs being handled, we believe its from being a broodmare, but she is making immense progress with that, slow & steadily regaining trust and our farrier is helping us work with this.
